For I am the least of the apostles, who am not worthy to be called an apostle, because I persecuted the church of God. 10But by the grace of God I am what I am...
The First Baptist Church of Hartsville is a congregation of men, women, boys, and girls who, though created in the very image of God (Genesis 1:26), have been born into sin (Psalm 51:5) and are therefore sinners by nature and birth. We confirm this nature and birthright each time we choose to sin (Romans 3:23; Romans 5:12; 1 John 1:8).
But because we have been called (2 Thessalonians 2:13, 14; Acts 2:38, 39) into a saving union (Colossians 2, 3) with Jesus Christ, we have been saved by God's grace through God-given faith (Ephesians 2) in the Person and Work of Jesus Christ Who enables and empowers us to repent of our sin (2 Timothy 2:25)--initially unto salvation (Mark 1:15; Acts 2:38, 3:19; Luke 13:3) and then repeatedly unto progressive sanctification (Romans 1:17; 1 Corinthians 1:30; 2 Corinthians 3:18; 1 Thessalonians 4:3).
This is who we are, then: Imperfect people saved by a gracious, perfect God Who is transforming us into the perfect image of Jesus Christ.
We are compelled by the love of God and a concern for His glory to gather consistently in order to continue steadfastly in the apostles’ doctrine and fellowship, in the breaking of bread, and in prayers (Acts 2:42); and to plan and prepare to serve the Lord Jesus in various ways.
It is our mission to prayerfully be...
